Music greats Judy Collins and Chris Botti perform at the Heymann Center

Lafayette, La- Iconic folk singer Judy Collins--whose hits "Both Sides Now" and "Turn, Turn, Turn" made hers a household name--and sensational jazz trumpeter Chris Botti will appear the Heymann Performing Arts Center, both presented by the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana (PASA).

Judy Collins, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 15, has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folk songs and contemporary themes. Her impressive career has spanned more than 40 years. At 13, she made her public debut performing Mozart's "Concerto for Two Pianos" but it was the music of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival, that sparked her transition to singer/songwriter. She moved away from the classical piano and began her lifelong love with the guitar and in 1961, released her first album, “A Maid of Constant Sorrow”, at the age of 22 beginning a thirty-five year association with Jac Holzman and Elektra Records. Her top 10 hits include her rendition of the Joni Mitchell classic Both Sides Now, Send in the Clowns, and Who knows where the time goes. She continues to delight audiences worldwide with her graceful voice and fervent commitment to social activism.

Jackie Lyle, PASA's executive director says, “Judy Collins’s range and versatility as a folk singer are unmatched. Her concert in Lafayette will feature her immortal covers of Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now and Stephen Sondheim's Send In The Clowns and, showcase a variety of beautiful and moving renditions of less familiar songs. If you love live music and want to experience a memorable night out then, this concert is perfect for you.”

On Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., jazz trumpeter/composer Chris Botti and his band take the stage in a concert that showcases their signature stamp on contemporary jazz.  Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed CD “When I Fall In Love”, Chris Botti has become the largest selling American jazz instrumental artist. In early 2009, Botti released his second CD/DVD PBS project, Chris Botti in Boston. Performing with the Boston Pops Orchestra, Botti shared the stage with Yo Yo Ma, Steven Tyler, Josh Groban, Katherine McPhee, John Mayer, Sting and others.

His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 Jazz Albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum & Grammy Awards.  Hitting the road for 250 plus days per year, Botti and his incredible band have performed with many of the finest symphonies, at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including performances at the World Series and Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony.

Over the past three decades, he has recorded and performed with the best in music; including Frank Sinatra, Sting, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.

"Chris Botti is a world-class musician who has played with some of the top musicians in the world from literally every genre of music," says Lyle. "He is a gifted jazz player and his concert at the Heymann Center will be a treat for music fans of all ages.”
